LIGHT HOUSES ON GREEK STAMPS (01) - Candia Harbor


1942 (September 1, 1942) CANDIA HARBOR (HERAKLION –CRETE)


The first stamp was issued in a landscape stamp set of ten values in September 1942. This stamp set was used by the Hellenic Postal authorities from 1942 to 1944 (during the four years of World War II). This stamp set is also known as the “Stamp set of inflation” (“plithoristiki”) or as “landscapes under occupation” (“katochika topia”).

The stamp with a lighthouse on is the 15 Drachmas value with the title ΗΡΑΚΛΕΙΟΝ-ΛΙΜΗΝ (HERAKLION-HARBOR).
